Privacy Policy: DHIS2 Online Academy

1. What information do we collect and what do we do with it?

When you enroll as a student (“learner”) on our site or related courses, as part of the enrolling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name and email address. We collect and store this limited personal data to assist us with preparation and execution of DHIS2 Academy courses, maintain records of course completion, and to facilitate email communication with you. We will only retain personal information as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.

Email contact: 

We may send you emails about our site and related course(s), registration, course content, your course progress, or other updates, including information related to your registration for and participation in the course discussion forums through the DHIS2 Community of Practice website. We may also use your email to inform you about changes to courses and/or our site, survey you about your usage, collect your opinion, or provide you with relevant updates about the DHIS2 Academy program.

We send our course emails through the Make email platform. You can read more about Make’s privacy policy and data use on their website: https://www.make.as/personopplysninger/ 

With the exception of our use of the Make platform, your email contact details will not be otherwise shared with third parties.

2. How do you get my consent?

When you provide us with personal information to become a learner on our site or participate in the course, you imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason and secondary reasons related to course activity as described above. 

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, such as general electronic mailing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

How do I withdraw my consent?

If after you opt-in, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information, at anytime, by contacting us at onlineacademy@dhis2.org

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service: https://www.academy.dhis2.org/tos

4. Third Party Services and Links

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as content hosting providers, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information they collect and use. For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

Once you leave our course website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

When you click on links on our course site, they may direct you away from our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.

5. Appsembler

Our course and site is hosted by NodeRabbit, Inc. (“NodeRabbit”) d/b/a Appsembler. They provide us with the online course creation platform that allows us to offer our courses to you.

6. Security

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

7. Cookies

We collect cookies or similar tracking technologies. This means information that our website’s server transfers to your computer. This information can be used to track your session on our website. Cookies may also be used to customize our website content for you as an individual. If you are using one of the common Internet web browsers, you can set up your browser to either let you know when you receive a cookie or to deny cookie access to your computer.

We use cookies to recognize your device and provide you with a personalized experience.

We do not share cookies with third-party sources or to serve targeted ads from Google, Facebook, Instagram and other third-party vendors.

Web Analysis Tools

We may use web analysis tools that are built into the Online Academy website to measure and collect anonymous session information, such as Google Analytics.

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website.
